Free Instructions: Pony Bead Cuff

Follow our step by step instructions below and learn how to make your own stretchy pony bead cuff bracelet. We used our opaque pony bead mix, so we had a wonderful choice of colours, planning colour ways for this bracelet is so fun! This is a perfect project to make with kids, it will require team work with an adult. We think it would be so cute to make matching!

Materials Needed

105 pony beads for a 7" bracelet ( 15 of each colour, 7 colours ) ( PLCGMX )
3 metres of ( coloured elastic )
 

Tools Required

a sharp pair of scissors
a beading mat, not essential, but very handy! ( BMT-2 )
 

Instructions:

1. Cut a 30cm length of elastic, thread 30 pony beads, in alternate blue and peach ( photo 1 )
2. Bring your two ends of elastic together, pull tight and tie two overhand knots. It's important to pull the elastic tight! This is so the cuff will keep its structure ( photo 2 )
3. Cut a 30cm length of elastic, thread it through one blue bead in your bracelet, pick up one magenta bead, miss out one peach bead, and pass through the next blue bead ( photo 3 )
4. Pick up a magenta bead, miss out one peach bead and pass through the next blue bead ( photo 4 )

5. Repeat step 4 all the way around your bracelet, until you reach where you started ( photo 5 )

6. Pull your elastic super tight!!!!! Until the magenta beads pull upwards and the beads sit vertically, rather then flat. Tie two overhand knots in the elastic ( photo 6 )
7. Cut a 30cm length of elastic, thread it through one of the magenta beads in your bracelet, pick up one turquoise bead, miss out the blue bead and pass though the next magenta bead ( photo 7 )
8. Repeat step 7 all the way around your bracelet, until you reach where you started, pull the elastic to a good tight tension and tie two overhand knots and trim( photo 8 )
9. Repeat step 7, but picking up grey beads, passing through the turquoise beads, and missing out the magenta beads. Pull the tension tight, and tie two overhand knots and trim ( photo 9 )
10. Repeat step 7, but picking up yellow beads, passing through the grey beads, and missing out the turquoise beads. Pull the tension tight, and tie two overhand knots ( photo 10 )
11. Repeat step 7, but picking up purple beads, passing through the yellow beads, and missing out the grey beads. Pull the tension tight, tie two overhand knots and trim ( photo 11)
