Free Instructions: Pearl Wave Earrings

Follow our free step by step instructions and learn how to make your own pair of elegant beaded drop earrings. Use the cross bead weaving technique with matte metallic seed beads and 6mm and 8mm glass pearls.  Enjoy our free beaded design, and enjoy making your own beaded jewellery! 

 

Materials Needed to make our Gold / cream earrings (scroll to the bottom to see links for our silver/ white beads) 

3g Size 8/0 Seed Beads ( ME832 )

3g Size 11/0 Seed Beads ( ME1132 )

2 x 8mm Cream Glass Pearls ( GLHP0820 )

6 x 6mm Glass Pearls ( GLHP0620 )

1 Reel of Nymo ( NMD )

6 x Earwires ( LBW )

 

Tools Required

2 Size 13 Beading Needle ( ND13 )

A Sharp pair of Scissors ( SCIMX ) 

Chain nosed Pliers 

Instructions

1. Thread a needle onto either end of a comfortable length of stretched beading thread ( we used about 70cm ), Pick up 1A and move to the middle of your thread (photo 1)

2. With both needles together pick up one 6mm glass pearl, 1B (photo 2)

 3. On each separate needle, pick up 7A (Photo 3)

4. On your left needle, pick up one 8mm glass pearl, pass your left needle over to your right side. Take your right needle and pass through the 8mm in the opposite direction (photo 4)

5.  On each separate needle, pick up 7A (Photo 5)

6.  With both needles together, pick up 1B, a 6mm pearl, 1B, 4A, a 6mm, 1A (photo 6)

7.  On each separate needle, pick up 3A

8. On your left needle, pass down through the 3As on your right thread. Repeat in the opposite with the right needle, (pass down through the 3As on the left thread) (photo 8a) pass one needle around again to strengthen and tighten, to create a little circle (photo 8b)

9. With both needles together, pass down through the last A you added in step 6, pass  down through the beads until the thread paths split into two (photo 9)


10.  You are now where the thread path splits, pass one needle through one thread path,  through 7A , repeat for the other needle/thread path (photo 10)



11.  On one needle, pick up 1A and pass through the next 7As (photo 11), repeat for the other needle/thread path 




12.  Pass both needles through the next 1B, 6mm (photo 12)

13.  Pass both needles through the next A, back up through the 6mm glass pearl. Weave in and secure your thread (Photo 13)

14. Using chain nose pliers, open up an ear wire and attach your earring through the small beaded loop at the top ( photo 14 )


15.  Repeat all your steps again to make a matching pair!

Securing your thread when you have finished


With your working thread, create a loop around an existing thread path, pass through the loop, tighten to secure. Continue to weave along the existing thread path, then trim.
